Personal profile

Overview

I am a Lecturer in Midwifery in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, having joined LSBU in 2022. I am a Registered Midwife and practiced on the South Coast of England. I last revalidated with the NMC in 2023.

I am module lead for three modules across the undergraduate BSc(Hons) Midwifery programme, cohort lead for our finalist students, preparing them for their preceptorship and Link Lecturer to Croydon University Hospitals NHS Trust.

I am currently leading a pilot for NHS England on flexible working for student midwives, mobiling seven other Universities and eight London Trust/NHS hospitals to offer flexible working to their students. It is hoped this offering will improve student work/life balance, commitment to their studies and retention.

I am a member of the School of Nursing and Midwifery's Athena Swan working group, as we aim to secure our silver award, and I am the Division's eMORA lead.

Enterprise and Innovation

My main research interests are how midwives practice is impacted by the litigious nature of contemporary life, due to my background in law. In addition, from my own experiences, midwives in the menopause and the impact this can have on them in terms of reflecting on their own childbearing.

I am awaiting award of my PGCert and Fellowship of AdvanceHE which I have achieved through an Academic Professional Apprenticeship with the University of West London.
