Personal profile

Overview

Prior to joining London South Bank University I worked in the product design industry for 15 years involved with a diverse range of product typologies from aircraft interiors and seating through office furniture to medical products. I've worked for some of the most respected design consultancies such as IDEO, was a design and development consultant at Concord:Marlin lighting and collaborated with disciplines as broad as DJ's, ergonomists, primary school teachers, graphic designers, typographers, architects, engineers, 'marketeers' and entomologists.
Currently I divide my time between LSBU and working as a principal designer for a medical device group.

Research Interests

My research crosses practice-based design research with design and engineering pedagogy and is currently working with colleague Susana Soares on the 'insects au gratin' project developing a food printing system that creates sustainable food utilising insect derived protein. I was an external examiner at Lincoln University 2018-2022, and contribute to other design projects.
