Personal profile

Overview

I joined LSBU in 2023, where I am a Doctoral Researcher of Chemical Process and Energy Engineering under Dr John Buckeridge. I originally studied Chemistry, completing my MSc from Pondicherry University. My PhD project is based on using text-mined scientific data for designing piezoelectric materials. Currently, I'm learning VASP and various architectures of AI-ML to study piezoelectric materials for advancing applications in electronics, sensors, and energy devices. Using computational modelling and machine learning, I aim to untangle atomic-scale phenomena to have a high piezoelectric effect, enabling the design of piezoelectric materials with improved functional properties for next-gen technologies.

Research Interests

In addition to my doctoral work, I collaborate with academic partners across institutions in India, Germany, and the UK. Most notably, I recently co-authored a paper titled “A Discrete Trialane with a Near-Linear Al3 Axis” alongside researchers from the University of Würzburg and the University of Kent. Such cross-institutional efforts allow me to expand my interdisciplinary knowledge while fostering meaningful academic relationships. Furthermore, recently, I participated in a hackathon "Large Language Model (LLM) Hackathon for Applications in Materials Science and Chemistry" which helped to strengthen my grasp on my current PhD topic and allowed me to connect with other renowned researchers from my field.
Beyond research, I am an avid programmer with additional passions for literature, travel, and volunteering with NGOs. I find immense fulfilment in blending my interests in the technical and creative realms. My overarching goal is to ultimately pursue a career that combines scientific discovery with STEM student mentorship.
