Personal profile

Overview

I joined London South Bank University (LSBU) in May 2020, where I am a professor of project management and construction in the School of the Built Environment and Architecture (SBEA) and the school’s Postgraduate Research (PGR) Director. Before joining the school, I was the programme director for construction project management at the University of Salford. I also held academic posts at Northumbria University and the University of Newcastle. I originally studied Civil Engineering as a first degree at the University of Nigeria, MSc (DIC) in Concrete Structures at Imperial College London, followed by a PhD in Construction Management from LSBU.

Research Interests

My research interests and expertise focus on several interrelated themes central to construction management, such as the application of digital technologies in urban simulation, negotiation, and collaboration to facilitate procurement decision-making in the supply chain, knowledge management in improving the procurement and performance of construction projects and modern construction management techniques and sustainable development. I have a broad background in conducting multi-disciplinary research involving many research teams in urban/building simulation and project management. My research-driven career within higher education spans more than 18 years. I have contributed to four books and more than 100 international journals and conference publications. I have also supervised over seven PhD students and examined over 25 candidates.
I have significant engagement with the industry as part of various initiatives to strengthen the link with the industry and for professional development. My external engagement involves fostering relationships with key external partners and professional organisations such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Association of Researchers in Construction Management (ARCOM) to elevate the school's profile. I joined ARCOM in 1998 and became an elected committee member in 2009. As a committee member, I have contributed to organising the annual ARCOM conferences, and as a workshop's convenor, I have organised national and international doctoral workshops. I am also a UKRI AHRC and EPSRC Peer Review College member.
