I am a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing at London South Bank University (LSBU), a Registered Mental Health Nurse, and a Registered Lecturer/Practice Educator. Currently, I lead the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (Mental Health) programme, the distance-learning MSc Mental Health Practice programme (delivered via LSBU Global and iheed Dublin), and various short courses in mental health and learning disability nursing. Additionally, I am the Cohort Leader for the 2025 BSc Mental Health Nursing intake, co-chair the LSBU Research Group on Mental Health, Neurodivergence and Vulnerable Groups, and sit on the LSBU Academic Board as an elected representative for the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
My dedication to teaching excellence, curriculum innovation, and student success was recognised with the LSBU Lecturer of the Year Award 2023, a student-nominated accolade reflecting high student satisfaction across three LSBU campuses. Dedicated to fostering inclusive environments, I focus on continually improving the student experience and supporting diverse learners to thrive. I am also a Senior Teaching Fellow (SFHEA) and an Advance HE Aurora Champion for Equality and Leadership in Higher Education.
My doctoral research explores professional identity in nurse education. To ensure my teaching and research stay relevant, I work directly with fellow academics, service users, and healthcare partners to design and deliver shared projects. Over the past decade, this collaborative approach has driven initiatives alongside organisations including Barnet Voice for Mental Health (a charity run by and for people with lived experience of mental health services), Together for Mental Wellbeing (the UK’s oldest community mental health charity), various NHS Trusts, WHO Europe, the European Commission, Erasmus+, and the RCN.
