Personal profile

Overview

I joined LSBU in 2015, where I am now Professor of Mental Health in Neurodevelopmental Conditions at the Institute of Health and Social Care, London South Bank University. I originally studied Mental Health Interventions, completing my MSc at Middlesex University, followed by a PhD in Health Services Research at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College London.

Research Interests

My main research interests whinclude identification and understanding neurodevelopmental dconditions in the Criminal Justice System. This group have high rates of need and is overrepresented in the criminal justice system. They often go unrecognised, unable to access treatment or diversion to more suitable services. My other interest is co-produced research, with this group around self-help and peer mentoring strategies around improving mental health.
I am currently Head of the Scientific COmmittee for the European Association of Mental Health in Intellectual Disability and the Editor for the Advances in Autism. I have published extensively in peer review journals and several books and training packs.
