Overview

I am the Course Director for the PgDip/MSc Occupational Therapy (pre registration course), in the Division of Occupational Therapy, School of Allied Health and Community, Institute of Health and Social Care. I specialize in occupational therapy for individuals with physical health conditions, oncology and palliative care with interests in occupational science and spirituality and the application of the theory and concepts of occupational science and occupational therapy to practice.

Research Interests

I was awarded Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Huddersfield, in 2016. My study was a qualitative study employing concept analysis and ethnographic approaches to explore how occupational therapists embed spirituality into their practice. Her thesis contains a conceptual framework and model of practice to guide occupational therapists in their practice.
My research interests are occupational therapy practice in acute care, palliative care and end of life, spirituality and person centered care, holistic health care practice, spirituality in health and social care practice and education and Occupational Science.
I am an active member of the Occupational Science Europe Research Committee, engaged in current research project to scope the research in Europe into occupation. This research committee collaborates with Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science Academics across Europe from England, Wales, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Israel and Germany.
I am a PhD supervisor, progress review panel advisor and viva examiner. Additionally supervising Masters level students with their dissertations.
I am an experienced external examiner and currently the External Examiner for the MSc Occupational Therapy course at Sheffield Hallam University.
