Module lead for:

Providing Care in Children's Nursing- skills-based module providing links between theory and practice, with teaching including simulation sessions, use of VR and group work, alongside traditional lectures. Module also covers all mandatory training for placements, as well as placement prep and reflection. Module runs across whole year.

Appraising Evidence for Practice (Children's)- Focus on research methods and critical appraisal of evidence for consideration for implementation, with assessment comprising of written essay. Module also contains study skills and essay writing coaching.

Additional teaching and support

Masters dissertation supervisor- providing guidance and support to pre- and post- registration students studying for their Masters in Children's Nursing, with dissertation marking included.

I teach across all pre-registration children's modules, including BSc and PGDip/MSc courses, with a special interest in teaching about emergency care, working in low-income countries, ethics and all years' skills.

Cohort lead- providing pastoral care, signposting to other university systems and enabling cohort feedback to occur regularly. Also managing and communicating cohort-wide changes, issues or updates, working closely with BSc program lead to feedback issues. Also involved arranging induction timetable and student communication for 2 week schedule, ensuring enrollment completed efficiently, alongside year 1 lead. 

Stage 2 appeals panel member- considering Stage 2 appeals relating to academic or withdrawal decisions to create recommendations for exam boards. 

Personal tutor- providing pastoral support, debriefing space and guidance.

Link lecturer (UCLH)- providing debriefing space for students on placement, mediating in disagreements or challenges between students and practice staff, supporting practice learning.

Program lead: student peer mentorship- Development and implementation of a peer support network of senior students to work with 1st year BSc students. Included recruitment and training of senior students, development of training resources and conduct policies. Working with the support of the university Wellbeing teams. Evaluation of pilot year pending summer 2026. 

Formal research evaluation pending with intention to publish results and present at relevant conferences regarding peer support wihtin healthcare programs. 

Community ambassador supervisor- Supervising student community ambassadors in conducting blood pressure checks, kidney function tests and providing advice to local communities to address renal disease.

Outside of University Role

RCN Forum member: Emergency Care forum and CYP: Professional Issues Forum (voting member).

Senior staff nurse in Children's Emergency Department- bank staff, working during weekends/bank holidays/annual leave.

Part of Empower Tanzania charity group (voluntary) working to deliver sexual and reproductive health programs to young people. I helped design the program, initially implemented 2019, which has since expanded in scope. Includes development of training materials for teachers and working with stakeholders for implementation. Program has been selected for national role-out in 2027 (14.5 million children), so currently part of the team editing the materials for government approval. Textbook currently undergoing governmental review (due to finish July 2026).

Work with YourStance (voluntary)- charity providing haemhorrage and CPR training to young people, focussed on those living in areas of deprivation in London.
