Mr Jon Bush

Jon Bush is an RIBA Chartered Architect and Lecturer of Architecture at London South Bank University’s Architecture and Planning department, within the College of Technology and Environment. He is an experienced Architect, working with award winning practices, and has a demonstrated history of project delivery across various construction sectors, specialising in project management, technical design and project delivery on site.

Jon is now operating in higher education and research. He is Module Leader of Architectural Technology within the BA undergraduate program, he runs a design studio on the MArch program, and he is the incoming Course Leader for both the L7 Architect Apprenticeship, and the Part 3 Professional Practice Architect qualification.

Jon is completing a PhD (part-time) at London South Bank University. His doctorate research is in the development and application of bio-materials in construction, specifically mycelium-based bio composites. The research investigates agricultural and forestry waste chains to link industries together and create a circular economic model for construction materials in the built envionrment. The research aligns with the UK's Sustainable Development Goals and the EU's Climate Action Targets while focus is on quality control. Jon is developing a certification workflow as part of his work within the University labs to engage commercial partners looking to achieve certification of novel materials.

Jon's research received the Future Game Changers Finalist certificate in 2024, awarded by the Associate for Renewable Energy and Clean Technologies at the British Renewable Energy Awards. Jon is scheduled to present his research at international conferences in 2025.
