Research interests

My research explores themes that relate to creative practices in music production and sound design. My current focus is spatial audio (eg. Ambisonics, Dolby Atmos) and live/algorithmic/modular electronic music.
I am engaged in enterprise projects through the ACE-IT project (immersive technologies), and the ACI ERDF partnership with Maidstone studios (virtual production).
Outside of academia, I am an experienced freelance sound designer and mixer working in music, film, and audio-visual projects. I have worked on feature films, drama series, and documentaries. Previously, I toured internationally with Aphex Twin producing audio-visual content and bespoke software as part of Weirdcore.
I have extensive experience working on systems design as a consultant on several high profile studio facilities, such as Dean Street Studios' Atmos music mix studio in collaboration with Dolby and PMC. I also led on the design of the studio facilities for the School of Arts and Creative Industries at the university.
I am actively involved in the industry as a member of AES, AMPS and UK Music. I am also the school's lead on the Avid Learning Partnership, working to promote Avid accreditations with our students.
