Personal profile
Overview
I am Lecturer in Construction Technology and Project Management in the school of Architecture and Built Environment. I joined LSBU in 2023 having previously worked at Greenwich University and before studying at Brunel University (PhD) and University College London (MSc). I teach Civil Engineering undergraduates in Construction Technology, Project Management and Engineering Mathematics.
Areas of interest I am passionate about are risk and natural disasters (including earthquake and tsunami) because of the impact good design guidance can have on reducing loss of life after major events.

Research interests
My research focuses on cascading multi hazard risk and how this propagates through complex interconnected systems such as civil engineering infrastructure networks.
My recent research includes large scale laboratory generation of long period tsunami waves in both the MAKEWAVES and URBANWAVES research projects - investigating the interaction of waves with on-shore coastal infrastructure.
I am currently also an active member of the Institution of Structural Engineers' technical committee on Post Earthquake Field Investigation reconnaissance, as we quantify the effects of these disasters on their local communities. Long term recovery from disaster events is also a research interest, with a recent mission to Banda Aceh, site of devastation following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
