Personal profile

Overview

I am a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader in the Social Work Department. I joined LSBU in September 2022, having previously worked as a social worker in children and adult settings. As well as, I lectured for eight years with a key focus on social work practice in Health and Social Care. I teach across the BA and MA programmes in Social Work and support students with placement and their research. In addition I share my knowledge of social policy in other schools within the College of Health and Life Sciences,  and currently completing a PhD with the focus of children living with special educational needs and disabilities.

Research Interests

I am currently working towards my PhD at LSBU, my key research interest is around children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and the effect Covid-19 has had on their development. This passion occurred whilst working during the pandemic in the Children's disability team at a London local authority. It was evident this area of social work was under strain, with the potential future of SEND children's development to have a negative effect moving forward. The Green Paper 2022 has stipulated that SEND children and young people were left behind in the pandemic and my research aims to assess the effects of this.
