Research Interests

As Academic Dean for LSBU Global I have oversight of the University’s transnational educational partnerships and responsibility for ensuring curricular integrity and academic quality. I have extensive experience of leading and managing academic partnerships both in the UK and internationally.
As a senior academic my focus has been in the development of innovative learning environments to support students to achieve their goals. This is informed through my scholarly activity, course development and extensive industrial liaison activities. My pedadogogic experience has and does span delivery from foundation to post-graduate level and hence I have an appreciation of the evolving learning experience from many different starting points.
My academic interests are in the area of microbial biochemistry particularly in customer focused industrial settings. Through several knowledge transfer partnerships I have built strong relationships with Food Production Companies working with them to improve their systems and hence their commercial activities. My disciplinary strengths and interests lie in Microbial Biochemistry, Food Microbiology and Risk Assessment in Food Production Systems.
On a wider platform I am interested in how organisations manage change particularly in the HEI sector. I am currently involved in a mentoring programme which I consider to be a powerful tool in this process.
