Mr Mark Milligan

I am an Operating Department Practitioner with seventeen years’ experience working in theatres, specialising in the roles of Anaesthetic and Recovery practitioner. Before leaving clinical practice I was Clinical Practice Facilitator for anaesthesia. As part of this I was a faculty member at The Learning Hospital at the UCH Education Centre, focusing on Clinical Simulation.
I joined the Perioperative Practice Team at LSBU in 2019 as a Lecturer. I currently teach Undergraduate ODP students and apprentices.
I also teach Post Graduate Theatre Nurses, leading the CPPD modules Principles of Operating Department Care and Evidence Based Operating Department Care.

I have recently contributed four chapters to a new textbook on Operating Department Practice aimed at ODP students. I have also  co-authoring a chapter with another of the Perioperative Practice Team, Joanne Fielding for the latest edition of the book Fundamentals of Operating Department Practice.
I am currently collaborating with colleagues on a research project examining the attitudes of student ODPs towards xenotransplantation, and this is currently at the planning stage, and will involve working with researchers at HEIs across the UK. This study will then be written up for publication in a peer reviewed journal.
