Personal profile
Overview
I am a feminist academic and activist working on issues of racial justice, youth advocacy, gender justice and international development. I have over 10 years of experience working on these issues in the international development space across Europe, South Asia and parts of Africa.
At LSBU I lead the university’s commitment to decolonise the curriculum, research and practices. I work closely with course teams, professional services, student union and academic support teams to deliver LSBU's institutional vision of decolonising. Through evidence based action research, I develop critical decolonial resources for staff and students to move from a position of 'not racist' to 'actively anti-racist'.
Besides leading the strategy and implementation of decolonising vision of the university, I teach across courses:
1. BA and MA Education in Practice (Anti-racist Education & Contemporary Issues in Education)
2. MSc Applied AI and MSc Cybersecurity (Social and Racial Norms in Applied AI)
3. BA in Creative Agency (Game Design Module)
4. MA in Curatorial Practice (Decolonising Art and Art history)
5. Academic CPD (Decolonising in Practice)
6. Racial Justice in Life Sciences
7. MA in Criminology (Social Justice Activism and Decolonising Criminology)
I design and facilitate staff development workshops on anti-racism, decolonising and critical pedagogy to facilitate co-creation of curriculum guides to embed anti-racism and decolonising in course design, delivery, materials and assessment. I help course teams review course planning and measure student outcomes.
I am also building my research on international development, feminist political economy and how the Global South shapes and challenges norms on development financing.
