Overview

I am an academic entrepreneur who has always found his Teaching, R&D and Enterprise activities working hand-in-hand to produce innovative technologies to solve social and business problems. I migrated to the UK under Highly Skilled Migrant status in 2001 and since then I have worked with several organisations in the UK, EU and Asia, both in Academia and Industry. My research interests include 5G, B5G,6G, Smart IoT and FPGAs, Blockchain, Collaborative Cognitive-Communication Systems, AI-enabled Recommendation Systems and Chatbots.

Research Interests

I have won the Tutoring the Prize Winner award twice from Association of Business Executives (ABE) UK, first for tutoring the prize winner in Computer Fundamentals (2005) and the second in the Information System Project Management (2010) module. I have been principal investigator/co-investigator and project coordinator for more than 10 internationally teamed R&D and capacity building projects funded by International R&D organization including Innovate UK, Horizon 2020, Erasmus, British Council, ICT-R&D FUND and HEC.
In 2007 upon winning an EPSRC Doctoral Training Award, I joined Kingston University as a full-time student and completed my Ph.D. in the area of Open Source Communication Networks in 2010. In 2009, I implemented my Ph.D. output using specially designed ARM architecture-based mobile FPGAs hardware with XScale microarchitecture and commercialised it through SwanMesh Uk Ltd. In 2011, during my Job at the University of Gujrat, Pakistan, my R&D Project “A Dual Radio Wireless Mesh Network” was awarded as “High Profile University Academic Research Project with Economic Impact” by Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan and was selected by the Government of Pakistan for Country Representation to showcase it as the country’s most innovative project at the International Exhibition on "Science, Technique and Innovation Technologies in the Epoch of Great Revival, held at Ashgabat on June 12-14 in Turkmenistan.
I have also contributed to several consultancy projects in UK and China including a world-first digital airport trolley called cTrolley developed by Chigoo which is operational in several airports worldwide.
I actively volunteer to provide my support for capacity building initiatives overseas to contribute to the UN's Global SDGs. I have served as Member Board of Governor for the UN’s Independent Monitoring Association for Child Labour (IMAC) program set up to the elimination of Child Labour from the Sailkot’s soccer ball industry in Pakistan. I have served as a member on several capacity-building committees overseas including Member of Higher Education Commission of Pakistan’s Committee of Experts to finalize the National Policy on Research Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Member Technical Sub-Committee for the Establishment of Technology University, Sialkot Pakistan, Member National Committee for Building Knowledge and Skills In Pakistan: Developing Doctoral Provision in State Sector Universities (An initiative of British Council Pakistan) and a British Council’s Active Citizen Programme. I served as a Regional Focal Person for PUM Netherlands to link Dutch professionals to the regional industry in Pakistan who voluntarily devote their rich expertise in creating a better world.
