Personal profile

Overview

I am a registered nurse and Professor, combining experience across clinical practice, education, quality improvement and research and was the first nurse to be awarded a professorship specifically for kidney care. As an honorary nurse consultant at Barts Health NHS Trust I have been involved in the development and evaluation of the East London Community Kidney Service. I also ran post-registration kidney modules in collaboration with the Trust .
I joined the School in 2013 and teach kidney care and research methods. I am the Editor of the Renal Nursing textbook, 6th edition due 2024 https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/book/10.1002/9781119413172

Research Interests

My particular research interest is the care and management of early kidney disease in primary care, especially self-management and shared decision making. I recognise the importance and impact of meaningful patient and carer involvement in health care research as a key driver for health services that are person-centred.
