Overview

I specialise in psychosocial interventions for mental health and wellbeing. I am a former Research Executive Member of the UK Council of Deans for Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals and Associate Director at the NIHR Clinical Research Network. I was appointed a National Teaching Fellow in recognition of my contribution to outstanding teaching and learning in Higher Education and in 2019 I was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Journal of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing for his outstanding contribution to mental health.

Research Interests

My current projects include EMPOWER: Evaluating Mental First Aid in the Workplace and the ESRC-Funded: “Schools As Enabling Spaces To Improve Learning and Health-Related Quality Of Life For Primary School Children In Rural Communities In South Africa”. Member of the NIHR-funded PHIRST South Bank Central Executive Committee.
