Personal profile

Overview

I am the Professional Lead and Head of Division of Occupational Therapy at London South Bank University.
After qualifying as an occupational therapist in 1997, I worked in clinical, managerial and research roles in the NHS in east London, UK and in São Paulo, Brazil. My areas of clinical specialty include adult community rehabilitation, primary care, and home adaptations.
I teach on the pre-registration BSc (Hons) and PgDip/MSc Occupational Therapy programmes at LSBU, other pre-registration courses within the Institute of Health and Social Care, and on post-registration masters and doctoral programmes.

Research Interests

My main research interests focus on older people, ageing in place, assistive technology, health informatics, and innovation in health and social care. I explore these topics through qualitative methodologies, user-centred design and co-production, and a complex systems approach.
