Overview

I am a senior lecturer and course leader for MA Social Work in the School of Allied and Community Health. I have over 20 years practitioner and management experience working within various services for children and families around London, in both statutory and third sector organisations.

Research Interests

I am an early career researcher and have been chosen to be part of a mentoring scheme at London South bank University. I am also currently part of a team researching serious youth violence in Buckinghamshire and Lambeth.
Until 2022 I was still in frontline social work practice in London. My areas of specialty are child protection and looked after children.

I am the module lead for Social Work for Children, Young People and Families on both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Within this, I incorporate my vast practice experience into weekly sessions that often challenge the students' perceptions of frontline social work practice. I am module leader for Human Growth and Development. This is taught as a joint module for graduate and postgraduate students in their first year. We explore the human life cycle, theories on development, and things that may impact both. I also lead on social work with children, young people and families module for both undergraduate and postgraduates, which helps students explore the complexities of chidlren's social work. I have also facilitated on the schools' Interprofessional and Collaborative practice modlule.
