I joined LSBU in 2020 from Barts Health University Trust where I was the lead/tutor for Clinical Skills and Simulation in Medical Education. I am a Registered Nurse, Midwife and Nurse Teacher, and achieved a BSc (Hon) in Neonatal Nursing and an MSc in Clinical Nurse Education during my carrer. I am a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing where I can impart many years of Nursing experience (including A&E, general paediatrics, adult general wards, maternity, neonatal intensive care, nurse and medical education) to my student nurses.
My main interests lie within Clinical Skills and Simulation to ensure students are well prepared when they go into clinical practice areas and ensure patient safety and satisfaction is always formost in teaching. I remain an honorary clinical skills and simulation tutor for Barts Health.
I undertook a research project in 2016 with undergraduate student nurses and the impact of raising concerns amongst lerners when observing poor practice in clinical environments. This and student wellbeing remain an area I am passionate about.
During Covid my team and I developed and ran a wellbeing centre for all clinical staff throughout the trust I was working in where over 3000 staff attended and given wellbeing care and advice. This had an enormous impact on clinical staff.
