Personal profile

Overview

I joined LSBU in 2018. Before this I worked in Occupational Therapy education at Brunel University. I was awarded “Best Personal Tutor of the year” for the whole of Brunel University.
I am passionate about all areas of mental health. My clinical experience includes working in forensic settings, eating disorders, inpatient, day hospital and community mental health.
I achieved a distinction for my MSc degree in Rehabilitation Counselling and I have worked as a university student counsellor.

Research Interests

Previously I set up an occupational therapy service at Harlington Hospice.
My research interests are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), forensic occupational therapy, women coping with illness, artistic leisure occupations, end of life care, Deafness, employment, retirement, dementia, ageing, children’s disorders.
As a result of my research and publications exploring women’s health and art, I was invited to be the keynote speaker at a student conference at Coventry University.

Subjects Taught


At LSBU I teach on all the occupational therapy courses. I am module leader for a BSc Level 4 module. This module introduces students to occupational therapy professional practice, occupational therapy process, models of practice and preparing students for their first placement.
