Overview
I am a senior lecturer in the Division of Psychology at the School of Applied Sciences. After completing my BA and MA at Istanbul University, I earned my PhD in Legal Psychology in 2016 through a dual agreement between the University of Gothenburg and the University of Portsmouth. I undertook my first postdoc at the University of Zurich in 2019. Later that year, I joined LSBU, having previously worked at Goldsmiths, University of London, and Coventry University. I teach both forensic psychology and social psychology and am the Pathway Lead for our BSc (Hons) Psychology with Criminology course.
Research Interests
My research interests concern investigative interviewing with a focus on information gathering from suspects, detecting deception, and the effect of culture in forensic interviews. The overall aim of my research is to develop and improve strategic ways of interviewing suspects. I am a chartered psychologist and worked as a prison psychologist before going back to academia.
