Overview
Dr Vicki Taylor is Course Director for the MSc in International Health Services and Hospital Management in the Division of Management, Marketing and People at LSBU Business School. Vicki specialises in leadership and management for health and wellbeing.
Since October 2008 she has contributed to the teaching of a number of the modules making up the MSc in Public Health and Health Promotion at London South Bank University. She also supervised Master’s dissertations and was module lead for the Research methods module of the Health Visitor and School Nurse Diploma (January 2013 – May 2013).

Research Interests
Vicki’s interests are in organisational development, public health leadership development and wider leadership development. She is also interested in developing research and consultancy skills in participatory approaches to evaluation, research and engagement. Vicki has published on ‘Leading for Health and Wellbeing’ and is currently vice chair of the UKPHR registration panel. Vicki was previously Course Director for the MSc Public Health and Health Promotion at LSBU and has taught public health at Kings College.
Vicki was also appointed to two NHS Leadership Academy programmes – the Mary Seacole Programme (Open University and Hay) and the Elizabeth Garratt Anderson Programme (University of Birmingham, Manchester Business school and KPMG).
Vicki currently provides a number of public health development programmes to support public health practitioners to prepare a portfolio for registration with the UK Public Health Register. She is also an assessor for the UKPHR and has experience of assessing public health portfolios at consultant and practitioner level.
RESEARCH
Vicki’s PhD focused on client and health adviser and client and medic interactions in the context of HIV pre-test counselling. She became interested in how ‘offers’ were constructed and negotiated. An inductive approach was taken using conversation analysis and the focus emerged from the data.
Previous research explored counselling interactions and how advice was given and received. Other research undertaken explored men’s feelings about becoming a father in the context of their experiences of their partner’s first pregnancy.
