Overview

I am the Lead for Nursing & Midwifery Apprenticeship. I studied at UCL, New Bucks University and Brunel University and abroad. I have taught in 3 London universities before joining LSBU. I currently teach pre and post registration nursing students and Foundation degree nursing associates and apprentices.
I am a RN, Specialist Community Nursing Practitioner (SCPHN) - Health Visitor and Teacher with the NMC. I am a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and I am a member of Community Practitioners and Health Visitors Association (CPHVA).

Research Interests

I started my nursing career as an adult nurse working in acute medicine within Accident and Emergency Unit, Medical Assessment Unit/Acute Assessment Unit and in surgery in the Surgical Assessment Unit. My clinical experience includes working in the UK and in Africa. Following the completion of my Specialist Public Health degree, I worked as a specialist health visitor practitioner with a Community Health Trust in London as a named health visitor/ Educator and also in a safeguarding capacity for many years.
My teaching experience spans across higher education and clinical practice supporting and facilitating essentially pre and post registration nursing student. I enjoy teaching and impacting knowledge whilst also learning in the process. I enjoy volunteering for a couple of charities. I volunteer in my local area within the Youth Justice team where I co- chair panels, supervise reparations and mentor young persons.
I have co-written chapter 8 titled ‘Building and maintaining your physical health' in a Wellbeing and Resilience for Nursing, Health and Social Care Students book published by SAGE. I am a reviewer for Pearson Education, and I reviewed Berman’s Kozier & Erb’s Fundamentals of Nursing Concepts, Process and Practice in 2021.
My main research interests are maternal and child health and health visitor’s experiences of caring for premature babies. I recognise the importance and impact that public health practitioners, especially health visitor who deliver the child health programme, have in reducing the widening inequality gap and improving health and wellbeing across the lifespan. I am also interested in social justice and the criminal justice system particularly around steering children and young persons from offending and supporting them to rebuild their lives and contribute to the community and society.
