Mr Vijay Lee

I am an Associate Professor in London South Bank University Business School, where I am currently Head of the Division of Associate Academics, and Chair of the School Academic Standards Committee. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and member of the Indian Institute of Bankers, I was previously an assistant general manager in India’s largest commercial bank, specialising in business finance and corporate lending. I also served for 19 years as Chief Examiner for corporate finance and funding for the Association of Corporate Treasurers, the chartered body for treasury professionals in the UK.

I am passionate about teaching, and take pride in bringing my rich professional experience to the classroom as a committed lecturer in the subject area of finance, and to the various management and leadership roles I undertake as a senior academic – which include external engagement with professional, statutory and regulatory bodies. I have an interest in both pedagogic research and financial management. My recent publications include the textbook “Bank Lending: Principles and Practice” by Nirmala Lee & Vijay Lee (Gosbrook, 2018). I also authored peer-reviewed sections in the book “Dictionary of Corporate Social Responsibility – CSR, Sustainability, Ethics and Governance” by Idowu, S.O., Capaldi, N., Fifka, M., Zu, L, and Schmidpeter, R (Springer Berlin, 2015) – this book has been listed as one of 2016’s two “most outstanding business reference sources” by the American Library Association (ALA) in Boston: http://rusa.ala.org/blog/2016/01/10/. I earlier engaged in action research on the sociological and psychological aspects of learning, presented papers on the subject at conferences, and draw on my research to improve student learning in the classroom.
