Personal profile
Overview
I have insights of construction industry with interdisciplinary backgrounds of Construction Project Management (PhD), Finance (CFA), and Legal knowledge (PGCert in International Business Law and now taking Diploma in Adjudication course from RICS).
As a Academic, I teach Construction Planning, Project Managment, Production Management, etc., for both postgraduates and undergraduates, supervise 6 PhDs.
As a Researcher, my research interests focus on contract management, project governance, dispute resolution, NLP in risk identification from contract documents, etc.
As a Practioner in the construction industry, I offer consulting services (including contract drafting, claim management, dispute resolution, etc); and provide trainings (FIDIC Certified Trainer of Fundamental Construction Contracts V2).
Research Interests
If I could only choose one word to describe my research, that would be contract. Because I do research of the lifecycle of a contract, thus my research interests and topics are quite wide. Below is the topics I have been doing related to contract, particually in the construction industry.
- Interplay between the use of Contract and the use of Relationship (Trust particularly) in project governance;
- Interplay between the influence of contract on project performance and the influence of Trust on project performance;
- The moderation role of culture in the interplay between contract and trust;
- The influence of contract design (complexity in terms of control, coordination, adaptation) on project outcomes (parties' behaviors, performance, satisfication);
- Automatic risk identification from client's tendering documents during the bidding stage from a contractor's perspective;
- Claim management, Confllct management;
- Contractual enforcement after violation;
- Alternatives of contractual enforcement after violation;
- Dispute resolutions;
- Alternative dispute resolutions.
