A new kind of low frequency absorber design suitable for music recital halls

    Abstract

    A new lightweight recital hall of volume 800m3 with a capacity an audience of 100 people has recently been constructed. This recital hall has a tradition wood finish and flat floor. Untraditionally, the hall has a rear wall to hide a curtain rail and associated curtain. Presented will be measurements to ISO 3382-1 of the hall together with an evaluation of the acoustics to Norwegian Standard 8178. . In addition, the ANSI and ISO measurement techniques for microphone placement were extensively compared to determine if there was any significant difference in the room acoustic measurements.
