Abstract
In this research, we are animated by ‘Dreams of a Unified Nicosia’ and by utopian longings for fulfilment in peace making decisions. This anticipatory element and unconscious dimension of the future is what we call the ʼnot yet conscious’. It contains emancipatory moments which project visions of a better life that question the organisation and structure of life as we know it. All issues consider a utopian vision for Nicosia, both as a model as well as a method and can therefore be described as an optimistic process of possible realisation, in which the determination of the future carefully formulates itself, experimenting with the promise of the citizens’ horizon. However, the out of reach diasporas featured in this research are, in creating images and visions of tomorrow for the city, become part of the actual creation of our future to come. In this chapter, the mapping of invisibility looks at the perspective that there has been little attempt to think through the importance of Cyprus as a trans-locational space: that is one where interculturalist, movement and flow have been important aspects of social reality.
