Abstract
Going to university is an exciting prospect, particularly when starting on a professional course. However, adjusting to university life within adult higher education may feel daunting and challenging, particularly during the first year of study in a nursing course. This chapter aims to explore many areas to help you prepare for your first year of your nursing course at university. This will include what you need to do to thrive and survive at university. It will help you to explore your adult learning style as well as identify the support and well-being services that can help you, particularly during challenging times. These areas will be further explored using case studies to help you reflect on your own experiences as well as prepare you for challenges that you might encounter, and you will be invited to make notes around your own reflections at the end of this chapter.
