Abstract
Standard 4 of the National Service Framework for Mental Health states that all mental health service users should have access to services at all times. Liaison mental health services in A&E departments across the country are central to the realization of this objective. This article reports on a study carried out in an East London A & E departments to evaluate the effectiveness of liaison mental health nursing. Quantitative data was collected on referrals made to the service and qualitative data was collected through interviews with clients and a postal questionnaire to determine client satisfaction.
