Abstract
Here we demonstrate the photochemical reduction of Al 3+ to metallic Al 0 nanoparticles using a ferroelectric material as the photocatalyst, in this case LiNbO 3. This gives evidence for multi-electron photoreduction reactions and a possible route to the formation of nanostructured metal particles that has high reduction potential cations formed from the dissolution of salts.
