Supporting Litigants in Person in the Family Court

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 ('LASPO') withdrew legal aid for most family law cases. Investment in mediation has not yet provided assistance to as many families as originally intended. The number of children applications to the family court is increasing and at a time when court resources are being reduced. This article considers a pilot scheme by students at London South Bank University in 2016/2017 to provide assistance and support to litigants in person in the family court and how similar projects might be developed in the future.© 2019 Lexis Nexis.
