    Abstract

The research project is investigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the development of children and young people (CYP) with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), from the parent’s perspective. In March 2020 the United Kingdom (UK) was put into a national lockdown and the state was declared to be in a national and global pandemic (Department of Health, 2022). In various reports, it has been claimed that CYP with SEND were left behind in the COVID-19 pandemic, with arguments that their needs and development were not at the forefront of policy makers’ decisions, and children with SEND were left with little or no support (Couper-Kenny, 2021; OFSTED, 2021: Zahawi and Javid, 2022; Theis et al., 2021).
