Abstract
This chapter explores alternative ways to understand the meaning and value of documentation by examining how artists use documentation as an artistic medium to encourage thinking about what documentation means. In the process, it touches upon the question of how to document art that is itself a form of expanded documentary practice. It also discusses how the valuation and subsequent hierarchy of museum documentation could change to reflect the growing complexity of artistic documentation.
