The women violence in Pakistan: Evidence from rural and urban areas

This paper undertakes to examine the neglected area of research, the women violence. There are very few research studies in the Pakistan perspective. The analysis reveals the diverse factors which lead to wife battering such as the age, religion, caste, educational background, rural or urban background, childbearing, sex, dowry, male child, economical status, dominance of in-laws, etc. The study explores the horrible reality persists that what so ever be the religion, caste, background of the women, they are being tortured and battered even today. Women are supposed as hapless with respect to being a victim. This social devil can be eliminated only and only after the women gain political and economic power. In this present study, 200 women from urban and rural areas were participated. They results shows that women are struggling in the male dominant society. They sexually exploited, battered for dowry and treated shoddily by other family members. Governments, societies, organizations and general people can find the current situation of women in our society and can support the environment of awareness towards women's rights and media can be a greater inspiration, influential and effective tool. Seminars, conferences and workshops' training programs support the corrective actions regarding women rights.
