Towards resolving mechanisms of particle shrinking during biomass pyrolysis via micro-computed tomography and in-situ radiography

Research output: Contribution to conferencePoster

Abstract

This poster, presented at the Centre of Advanced Materials for Integrated Energy Systems Workshop: Multi-Modal Characterisation of Energy Materials, displays a preliminary analysis of the evolution of particle morphology during biomass pyrolysis by micro-computed tomography and in-situ radiography. Particles were shown to lose external and internal volume concurrently, and pore volume to move away from particle surfaces during pyrolysis, implying particles swell and then shrink as pyrolysis proceeds.
