Utilisation of Brownfield for Renewable Energy in Building Sustainable Cities

Research output: Contribution to conferencePoster

Abstract

Brownfield sites are proposed to be redeveloped for renewable energy and heat purposes including solar energy, wind energy and ground source heat pump, that can be used in district heating. Site suitability is chosen based on analysis of location, slope, aspect, average solar radiation, wind speed, distance to main roads, distance to substations and bedrock type. The process is done using ModelBuilder in ArcGIS. The feasibility of solar PV and wind turbine installation is evaluated based on the potential energy the sites can generate.
