Abstract

SmotsTM is audiovisual technology which has been utilised in-class for multi-angle teaching demonstrations, facilitating observation, and recording practical clinical examinations. Additionally, it has also been utilised during moderation of practical assessments, enhancing inter-observer reliability. Student feedback has been positive with students expressing a preference for a single examiner with recording for moderation. This reduces assessment related anxiety and enables students to perform to their natural ability. All practical assessments have been recorded by SmotsTM which has additionally enhanced the quality of written feedback. This has enhanced the transparency of the assessment process and assists in the retention and transition of students
