Abstract
Vladimir Mayakovsky is usually regarded as a poet, Thoma Sharp as an urbanist. This paper reverses those on the basis that Mayakovsky regarded his writing as work towards building a socialist utopia, while his near contemporary Thomas Sharp regarded himself (and was) a poet.
