    Personal profile

    Overview

I am a Senior Lecturer in Energy and Building Services in School of the Built Environment and Architecture at LSBU. I am also the Course Director of BEng (Hons) Building Services Engineering and lead 4 thermal engineering related core modules across MSc and BEng Building Services Engineering. I am currently supervising PhD students and a reviewer for CIBSE Building Services Engineering Research & Technology journal, CIBSE Technical Symposium and a Guest Editor Frontiers in Energy Research.

Before joining academics, I have worked on government and multinational cross-disciplinary research projects and have experience of working across different domains of energy; from nuclear to oil & gas and moving on to renewable. I have working experience in Pakistan Atomic Energy commission and was the part of the KANUPP Final Safety Analysis Project awarded IAEA Award for Technical Excellence. I have also worked in NED University of Engineering & Technology, Pakistan.

Earlier I did my PhD from the Cranfield University, UK. My research formed part of the EPSRC-funded Joint Project on Transient Multiphase Flows and Flow Assurance (TMF), with additional support from BP Exploration. It involved both numerical modelling and experimental investigations using one of the largest multiphase flow test facilities in the UK higher education sector. As part of my research, I designed the experimental test facility and operated the experimental programme to generate high-quality data for the development and validation of multiphase flow models. The resulting research has been widely used nationally and internationally for the validation of hydrodynamic models of large diameter  vertical multiphase pipe flows.

    Research Interests

My research interests spans across Thermal Energy Systems, Multiphase Flows, Renewable Energy Systems, Heat Recovery, Net Zero, Decarbonisation, Building Energy Performance, Energy Efficiency, Experimental Modelling, Numerical Simulation, Optimisation and CFD.

I have worked as a Research fellow in ‘Home Energy for Tomorrow - HE4T’ project in School of the Built Environment and Architecture, LSBU. This project was in research partnership with ICAX Ltd, Thames Water and Anglian Water. The work has produced multiple research outputs. The work is also recently been quoted by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers in their Online Journal and by BBC Future Planet (article on low-carbon heat recovery from sewage).

I collaborated with industry partners to develop sustainable energy solutions and facilitate knowledge exchange. My experience included providing technical expertise to ICAX Ltd during the Low Carbon London ERDF project and contributing to the HE4T BEIS Energy Entrepreneurs Fund project.
